Call for Proposals

Presentations | Panels | Perspectives

The Australian Organics Recycling Association (AORA) invites processors, councils, policymakers, researchers, agronomists, consultants, technology providers and end users to submit program proposals for the AORA 2027 Annual Conference.

As Australia’s organics recycling sector continues to evolve, increasing focus is being placed on delivering measurable outcomes across soil health, resource recovery, contamination reduction, carbon management, circular economy development and sustainable procurement.

Under the theme Building Australia’s organics future, the 2027 Conference will explore the practical actions, partnerships, technologies and policy settings shaping the future of Australia’s organics recycling sector.

The conference will bring together leaders from across the value chain to share operational insights, technical innovation, market development strategies, regulatory perspectives and case studies demonstrating how recycled organics support agriculture, infrastructure, communities and environmental resilience.

AORA is committed to encouraging broad participation and diverse perspectives within the conference program. Alongside established industry leaders and returning presenters, the Conference Committee welcomes submissions from first-time speaker, emerging professionals and organisations with practical insights, valuable experiences or new ideas to share.

The Conference Committee is seeking submissions that are practical, evidence-based and solution-focused. In addition to individual presentations, the Committee welcomes proposals for panel discussions and expressions of interest from those willing to participate as a panellist.

Submissions should address the sector’s current challenges and emerging opportunities across the following themes:

  • Contamination & Quality: PFAS, plastics and microplastics; compostable packaging; contamination reduction; feedstock quality; testing and standards.

  • Markets & End Users: Agriculture and soil health; landscaping, turf and civil markets; procurement; commercialisation; market development.

  • Technology & Operations: Practical processing technologies and operational outcomes; composting and AD systems; biochar and emerging technologies; automation and monitoring; safety innovation; odour and emissions management.

  • Policy & Advocacy: Regulation and harmonisation; industry reform; council and regulator collaboration; procurement policy; compliance and risk management.

  • Processor Perspectives: Facility case studies; operational insights; workforce and leadership; contamination management; contracting and supply chain challenges.

  • Innovation & Future Systems: AI and digital technologies; carbon markets; circular economy integration; data and analytics; emerging technologies and future opportunities.

Other topics aligned with the conference theme may also be considered at the discretion of the Conference Committee.
